Clay Club Manila #6: GTM Engineering, Geospatial Data, and 40 Builders in Makati
Recap of the 6th Clay Club Manila meetup at Acceler8 Rockwell in Makati — Wesley Hoang on GTM engineering vs cold outreach, Joshua Macaldo combining geospatial data with Clay, and 40+ builders networking at the Philippines' fastest-growing GTM community.
On March 23, 2026, we hosted the 6th Clay Club Manila meetup at Acceler8 by UnionSPACE in Rockwell, Makati. Over 40 builders, operators, and GTM engineers packed the room — with less than 5% no-show rate. A mix of new faces and OGs who have been with us since the beginning.
Two hours of speaker demos. Hours of networking that ran long past schedule. The kind of event where people stay because the conversations are too good to leave.
This is how it went down.

The Venue: Acceler8 by UnionSPACE, Rockwell
Acceler8 by UnionSPACE in Rockwell, Makati gave us the perfect setup — a co-working space with enough room for 40+ attendees, a proper presentation area, and lounge seating for the networking sessions that always end up being the highlight.
The format was straightforward: two hours of speaker demos followed by open networking with snacks. No fluff. No filler panels. Just real demos from people doing the work, then real conversations between the people in the room.

Less than 5% no-show rate across 40+ registered attendees. That is not just a good event — that is a community that shows up.
Wesley Hoang: GTM Engineering Is Not Cold Outreach
Wesley Hoang kicked things off by tackling the most common misconception in our space: that GTM engineering is just cold outreach with extra steps.
He drew the line clearly. Cold outreach is sending emails at scale. GTM engineering is building systems that identify, qualify, and engage the right prospects at the right time using data infrastructure, enrichment workflows, and automation. The tools overlap — Clay, Instantly, Smartlead — but the thinking behind them is completely different.

Wesley then walked through exactly how to use Clay for outbound motions that are actually relevant. Not spray-and-pray. Not mass personalization theater. He showed workflows that start with intent signals and firmographic data to build lists that make sense — then layer in enrichment and AI-generated messaging that reflects genuine research.
The audience response was immediate. Heads nodding. Laptops opening. People taking notes on their phones. This was the kind of talk that makes you want to rebuild your entire outbound stack before you get home.

GTM engineering is not cold outreach with better tools. It is building data-driven systems that surface the right opportunities at the right time. Wesley made that distinction crystal clear.
Joshua Macaldo: When Data Science Meets Clay
Then Joshua Macaldo took the stage — and nobody in the room saw it coming.
Joshua combined data science, geospatial data, and Clay to surface qualified opportunities for his client. He showed how geographic and location-based data layers can reveal business patterns that traditional firmographic data misses entirely. Think mapping customer density, analyzing regional growth corridors, and identifying expansion signals that only show up when you look at where businesses physically operate.

The room loved it. This was not a standard Clay demo. This was a data scientist showing GTM engineers that the platform they use every day has capabilities they have never even considered. The questions after his talk ran long — people wanted to know exactly how to replicate the approach, what data sources he used, and how to think about geospatial signals in their own outbound workflows.
Joshua proved that Clay is not just an outbound tool — it is a data infrastructure layer. Combine it with geospatial intelligence and data science, and the possibilities go far beyond cold email.
Snacks, Demos, and Real Conversations
After the talks came the part of Clay Club Manila that people keep coming back for: the networking.

Snacks, drinks, Clay merch — including the Clay [club] and "grow" corduroy caps that everyone wanted to get their hands on.

But the real magic was in the conversations. Agency owners comparing Clay workflows with solo operators. Startup founders picking the brains of experienced GTM engineers. People exchanging LinkedIn profiles and Slack handles, planning follow-up calls before they even left the venue.

The networking session ran well past the scheduled end time. People stayed because the energy in the room was contagious — builders connecting with builders, sharing what they are working on, figuring out how to work together.

What's Next for Clay Club Manila
The GTM engineering community in Manila is growing. It is still early, but the people showing up are builders and curious minds. That energy is contagious.
Clay Club Manila now has over 400 members and counting. Each event brings new faces alongside the OGs who have been with us since the first meetup in Taguig back in December 2024. The community is compounding.

If you are in Manila and you missed this one — come to the next one. The mix of Clay workflows, GTM engineering, data science, and AI is only going to get deeper. And the people in the room keep getting more impressive.
